Reynolds Consumer Products Policy on Social Accountability and Ethical Treatment

Reynolds Consumer Products LLC promotes business practices and policies that show respect for the value of all human beings. It requires that its suppliers do so as well. All Reynolds and supplier locations shall provide a safe working environment to all employees, which includes proper training, appropriate equipment to safely perform the job, and a clean environment where safe behavior is emphasized.

All Reynolds Consumer Products and supplier locations shall also maintain conditions of employment where all workers are free to choose employment, where there is no forced, bonded, or involuntary labor, and where there is no use of child labor. There shall be no discrimination in hiring, compensation, access to training, promotion, termination or retirement based on age, gender, race, color, caste, national origin, disability, religion or veteran status.

Regardless of culture, community, or country, Reynolds Consumer Products will not use any supplier that is involved in or associated with human trafficking, bonded labor, involuntary servitude, use of child labor or sexual slavery. Reynolds Consumer Products maintains a diligent supplier control program specifically evaluating its suppliers and validating their compliance with these standards. In the event any supplier audit finds evidence that the supplier is in violation of Reynolds Consumer Products Social Accountability and Ethical Treatment Policy, the supplier relationship will be terminated or suspended until such time as the supplier comes into full compliance.

Reynolds Consumer Products Policy on Social Accountability and Ethical Treatment

Safety
Reynolds Consumer Products puts the safety of our employees, our communities, and our consumers first and foremost. This includes rigorous product development and testing to ensure our products are safe to use. Our employee safety programs are prevention-based and behavior-based, which has helped us to achieve a world-class safety record for our industry.

Quality and Hygiene
Our facilities that produce consumer products intended for food preparation and storage adhere to the United States FDA standards and maintain product safety plans for product safety, hygiene, and quality.

In addition, many of our large customers require periodic audits of our manufacturing facilities to meet their own strict standards. Our International products meet or exceed all governing standards in the countries where they are sold.

Environment

We operate with respect for the environment. We are proud that our waste bags directly aid litter control, prevention, and clean-up efforts.

We are proud members of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition® (SPC), an industry working group dedicated to a more robust environmental vision for packaging.

We offer products with recycled materials, including Reynolds Wrap® foil from 100% recycled materials, from a mix of pre- and post-consumer aluminum. We also offer Hefty® Renew® 13-gallon tall kitchen bags and 33-gallon extra-large trash bags with 65% recycled plastic.

We adhere to all air, water, and power regulations in the communities we operate. In addition, we continuously work to reduce our consumption of raw materials and energy in producing our products, including reducing or recycling scrap generated during our production processes. We offer recycling in our facilities as available in each community for office and foodservice waste.

We continuously review our supply chain to optimize the number of trucks and fuel needed for our products to be shipped to customers. For example, we seek to ship full trucks, and seek to ship from our closest production facility whenever possible. For some product lines, we developed, tested, and implemented carton-less pallet packaging, replacing cardboard with a thin polymer wrap; which reduces both materials and energy to ship the product.

Recycling and Landfill Safety

To encourage recycling, we are a leader in implementing the How2Recycle Label, which is a voluntary standardized labeling system that clearly communicates recycling instructions to the public. Standardized instructions are provided for both the product itself and recycling instructions for packaging on all of our Hefty® and Reynolds® brand products.

We understand that the ability to recycle is also dependent on the availability of collection and processing facilities in each community. We believe that use of disposable products is an individual choice. In making this decision, many take into consideration the “total carbon footprint” or environmental impact of non-renewable energy used to harvest, process, and transport renewable materials. Others consider the impact of labor, water, and energy in washing permanent products.

Understanding that most U.S. communities currently use landfills to dispose of waste, our aluminum and plastic products are inert in a landfill and do not leach into ground water or contribute to methane gas.

Programs that Help Families

Our marketing programs provide information that help busy families make healthy, nutritious meals and offer information for cleaning and organizing their homes. In addition, we are pleased to support organizations like Box Tops for Education and TeacherLists.com, which provide funding and services to U.S. grade schools.

Community Service

Community service is employee-led and individual to the communities where we operate. Charities include: American Red Cross in-kind donations, organizations supporting cures for cancer and diabetes, food banks and food relief organizations, blood donation, holiday toy drives, and charities supporting animal shelters.
